3 Day Class – March 7-9, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Prairie Squares takes inspiration from the straight lines of fields, divided into several areas with different stitches and textures in each square. One square leads to another, providing lots of interest.
Teaching Objectives:
- Explore “twisty” stitches in a cohesive design
- Work with various stitches and thread textures
- Develop an ease in stitching that emphasizes the rhythm of the stitch
Student Objectives:
- Confidence in working with various thread textures
- Techniques for stopping and starting threads
- Discover how texture and color impact a design
Design size: 145 x 145, about 8” x 8” on 18 mono deluxe sage green canvas
Level: Advanced
Kit contents: 14” x 14” sage green canvas with taped edges; DMC #8 pearl cottons; DMC flosses; Kreinik #8 braids; Rainbow Gallery Silk Lame’ Braids; Rainbow Gallery Neon Rays; ThreadworX Vineyard silks; size 22 and size 18 tapestry needles
Students need to supply 2 pairs of 14” stretcher bars with tacks or staples, scissors, laying tool, magnification and lighting. A stitching frame to hold the canvas will make laying threads easier.
